After making an inital visit to your location to determine if an estate sale is appropriate, our specialists will work with you to sort out the estate goods. We ask that you remove any items at this time that you are planning on keeping so that only items to be sold will remain in the home.
We will then go on to inventory items (if required) to be sold while organizing, cleaning and resarching where necessary. We will price and tag the items and "stage" them to be sold. We will provide additional tables, cabinets, rolling racks, etc for the purposes of display. We will thoroughly advertise the sale via our online store, internet based social networking sites, local newspapers and trade publications. We use professional signage on the day of the sale to direct buyers to the site and attract local area interest. We provide experienced professional staff to conduct the sale, handle all buyer inquiries and sale transactions. We also provide additional security and crowd control when needed. Following the sale most items will be sold. We can advise you on the appropriate avenues for any remaining items, such as auction, liquidation and/or donation, etc.
All sales are final and sold "as is", so there will be no returns to contend with. Our commission rates are depending on the nature and amount of items to be sold. Commission generally runs 25-40%. In addition, we charge an up front fee, as a deposit to retain our services to commence preparations and advertising for the sale. This fee is non-refundable if for any reason you choose to cancel the sale. The exact rate is determined on our initial visit to the home, so there are no hidden fees. Our commission fee is deducted from the proceeds of the sale. Heirlooms Estate Services will provide an accurate account of all monies received and a final sale summary with payment for you, no later than five business days following the close of the sale.
Throughout the sale process, your items will be treated with the upmost respect and diligence. We understand that you are selling personal property and that this may be an emotionally difficult process.
